DOING RESEARCH
I’ve done quite a bit of research on the topic of disaster recovery plans. I know that my business is small and run out of my home, but that is no reason for me to not have all of the knowledge I can to protect my files and keep my business safe. My family and I depend heavily on my small business; it is my livelihood, so I need protection for it just as bad, if not more than some larger companies. I make sure to back up all of my files on a daily basis and I keep copies both on site and off site in a safety deposit box. I make the trip to the safety deposit box each and every day to ensure that no matter what happens, I’ll always have the most up to date information at my disposal. Of course, I don’t ever want anything to happen – in fact I’m about as careful as anyone could possibly be, but you never know what could happen: a natural disaster, a computer virus or a hard drive crash could wipe away everything that I’ve been working on in the blink of an eye. The only thing I can do is be prepared to deal with these situations if they should ever arise.
