GOING TO THE LIBRARY

When I worked in real estate, one of the things my manager gave me was this thick black book that reminded me of a Bible except its covers were made out of leather.  It was the Not For Tourists Guide to Chicago.  The contained all these maps and information grids about various Chicago neighborhoods.  Even smaller neighborhoods and communities get listed with them.  There’s a St. Bens Chicago neighborhood guide, a Jeff Park neighborhood guide, a Gladstone Park neighborhood guide, and even a Budlong neighborhood guide.  I knew what Budlong was because my father works in that neighborhood and I’ve been to the library there more than a few times.  However, I didn’t know there was a St. Bens community in Chicago until I saw a small map for it in the book.  It’s good that I knew since there were apartments in St. Bens I had to try to rent and it would help tremendously if I knew not only where the neighborhood was, but where I could find the apartments at.  My job is hard enough just trying to schedule everything since people have no respect for the time I’m taking out to help them.  I don’t need to get lost and wander around, trying to find a building.
